DPA fines exceed 1.65m USD in Turkey, latest stats show

Amid COVID-19 outbreak, the Turkish Data Protection Authority continues to impose fines to the companies, showing his strength to Turkish Data Controllers.

While VERBIS (an online registry mandatory for certain data controllers) registry deadline is getting closer (30th June, 2020), the Authority is posting the summary of its latest decisions online. The total fines of the decisions imposed by the authority exceeds 1.65m USD as of May 2020. In 2019, the total figure was almost 1.3m USD, four times higher compared to this year's figures.
